Under the supervision and guidance of the Team Leader; Senior Phlebotomist and Mobile Field Operations Supervisor, is responsible for the daily operation of the mobile drive and the effective utilization of all resources including the equipment and supplies. Will demonstrate competencies and must work as efficiently as possible in order to reach collection goals established while also following all Standard Operating Procedures and departmental policies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Regular and predictable attendance is required
2. Packs equipment supplies for blood drive, assist load and unload mobile vehicles.
3. Performs phlebotomy as required in accordance with SOP.
4. Greets donors and treats co-workers with respect and courtesy.
5. Internal and external customer service is required.
6. Determines donor suitability for blood donation.
7. Responsible for converting eligible donors to Double Cell collections
8. Executes screening process, performs medical exam, and draws safe units of blood in accordance with SOP.
9. Observes donor for impending reaction; render care when necessary.
10. At Team Leader discretion Mobile Phlebotomist I can be stationed at the refreshment area to document assist and treat donor reactions. At Team Leader’s discretion a Mobile Phlebotomist I can be appointed to escort donors (especially at High Schools) to refreshment area and assist with reaction by ensuring donor safety by guiding donor to the floor, completes Adverse Reaction report, and provides treatment to donor, reports incident to Team Leader.
11. Observes all work rules and procedures established by Human Resources and Donor Services, which provide for the safety and efficiency of operations.
12. Accomplishes all tasks efficiently and economically as directed by management.
13. Will examine each blood donation record related to mobile/center collections to verify completeness and accuracy.
14. Verifies quality control is completed on equipment as directed by SOPs and the Quality Assurance and Compliance Department
15. Appraises donor suitability decisions thus enhancing productivity in the collection effort.
16. Reports donor reactions or any other unusual incidents to the Team Leader.
17. Attends departmental meetings and training sessions as required and participates in the trial and evaluation of new methods and equipment.
18. Expected to successfully complete 50 phlebotomies and three competencies in the first 90 days.
19. Expected to successfully complete 500 phlebotomies and 250 medical histories within the first 9 months of employment.
20. May assist other departments with clerical functions when needed.
21. May be trained internally to drive Mini coach
22. May be required to drive a Heartland vehicle, must have validate driver license and be in compliance with the Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.
23. Performs Automated Lot Release responsibilities when required.

Education/Certification/Licenses/Work Experience: Phlebotomy, EMT-B, or MT highly preferred. Prior healthcare experience a plus. DEGREE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS MAY BE WAIVED AND EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE AT HEARTLAND BLOOD CENTERS ACCEPTED EXCLUSIVELY AT THE DISCRETION OF MANAGEMENT.

Skills: Possesses the medical knowledge necessary to determine donor suitability, render immediate and proper care to donor and patient, and attend to safety and quality control issues as required by SOP and external regulatory requirements. Also should possess basic computer knowledge/skills. Ability to produce reports, documentation, and communications using employer provided resources. Ability to balance resources effectively to optimize value and reduce costs. Must be able to interact with all levels, make decisions, be well organized and detail oriented. Must possess a strong understanding of policy, protocol, and regulations. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
